The Spanish Association of Bilingual Education (EB) was founded in 2016 with the aim of becoming an observatory of bilingual education in Spain. Its main objectives are, among others, to contribute to the creation of a national framework that ensures the quality of the bilingual programs all over the country, as well as to promote the learning of foreign languages within the Spanish curriculum.
It has more than 500 members, including researchers and teachers from all educational levels and it has been developing an important number of activities throughout these years.
EB is an affiliate of The National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE), one of the largest American bilingual education associations, as well as of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) with which it collaborates closely.
EB has signed collaboration agreements with thirteen state and private universities all over the country with the purpose of creating a national network to share research and good practices.
Every year, together with these Universities, EB organizes an International Conference on Bilingual Education which gathers researchers, policy makers, prestigious academics from Spanish and other international universities, as well as a significant number of teachers. The next Conference will be held on October 21st , 22nd and 23rd at the University of Jaen in the Region of Andalusia, in the south of Spain. More than 30 Universities are represented in the Scientific Committee and the Conference is supported by more than 50 institutions including the French, the Italian and the Portuguese Language Institutes as well as the British Council.
