"Mihai Eminescu" National College Iasi aims to preserve its identity starting from traditional values, valuing and developing the potential of human and material resources, consolidating the high school as an institution and giving equal opportunities to students for successful integration in higher education in the country and abroad and as future citizens active, dignified, creative, able to adapt quickly and efficiently in a constantly changing society.
The "Law on Instruction" of November 1864 stipulated in article 184: "in all cities where there are high schools for boys, secondary schools for girls composed of five classes will be established." On this basis, the Secondary School for Girls or the Externatul Secondary for Girls was created, which began its courses in January 1865 with a single class of 12 students. The first subjects of study were mathematics, the Romanian language, natural sciences, geography, history, French, religion, drawing, calligraphy and manual work. By order 3320/
20.08.1960, the Ministry of Education and Culture decides that the school should be called "Mihai Eminescu" High School no. 2.
